CIS ATC deputy section head participated in the X working group expert meeting of the Council of Heads of Penitentiary Services of the CIS member-states (SRPS) on April 30, 2026.

The event brought together representatives of the penitentiary services of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as CIS Executive Committee.

The meeting focused on pressing issues in strengthening cooperation between the penitentiary services of Commonwealth countries, including the exchange of experience on detention conditions for vulnerable categories of convicts, their rehabilitation and resocialization, measures to humanize sentence enforcement, and staffing and professional training.

The representative of the CIS ATC noted the importance of cooperation with the SRPS in assisting CIS member-states in conducting interstate search for persons who have committed terrorist- and extremist-related crimes. He also expressed confidence that cooperation between the CIS ATC and the SRPS would help improve the effectiveness of joint efforts to combat transnational crime, terrorism and extremism, and contribute to regional and international security.
