Deputy chief of the CIS ATC information and analytical section Mr. Anton Arefev participated in the regional round table on "Objectives of UN Security Council resolutions in the field of counter-terrorism: good practices in implementing the sanctions regimes under resolutions 1267 (1999), 1989 (2011), 2253 (2015) and 1988 (2011)"
The Roundtable was organized by the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Centre (UNCCT) of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), the Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team, supported by the United Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia (UNRCCA).
The event was attended by representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as international organizations, including – CIS ATC, EAG, OSCE, CSTO and SCO RATS.
The round table featured an interested exchange of best practices and experience in the implementation of sanctions regimes, and offered an opportunity to discuss challenges faced by national authorities in the designation, implementation, and delisting processes.
In his statement Mr. Arefev focused on the CIS ATC’s contribution to the preparation of thematic reports to the UN Security Council on the threats posed by international terrorist organizations ISIL and Al-Qaeda to the peace and security.
