CIS ATC participates in the 42nd meeting of the Working group on Afghanistan under the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers

Yulia Berladir, chief of group of the Information and Analytical Department of the CIS ATC, took part in the 42nd meeting of the working group on Afghanistan under the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers held on December 3, 2025 in Moscow.
The event brought together representatives of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Coordination Service of the Council of Border Troops Commanders, International Committee of the Red Cross and United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia.
The meeting discussed the situation in Afghanistan and noted the persistence of unfavorable trends in the socio-economic, humanitarian, and security sectors.
While exchanging their opinions, the members of the working group stressed that the structures of international terrorist organizations have become more active amid the ongoing political instability and economic crisis in Afghanistan, and noted the growing risks of terrorist attacks and provocations in the border areas.
In general, the participants of the event expressed a common opinion on the need to step up the efforts of the states of the Central Asian region to strengthen borders, develop joint security strategies and dialogue with Afghanistan in order to prevent the expansion of the influence of terrorist and extremist organizations.
