CIS ATC attends meeting of heads of border services of SCO competent authorities

The CIS ATC delegation, led by its Head Evgeny Sysoev, participated in the twelfth meeting of the heads of the border services of the competent authorities of SCO member-states held in Islamabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan on July 17, 2026.
Representatives of 11 SCO countries (the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of India, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the People's Republic of China, the Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan), as well as the Council of Commanders of Border Troops and the CSTO Joint Staff, took part in the event.
The event’s agenda covered a wide range of issues regarding the strengthening of security within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) region, including the coordination of efforts to combat terrorism, extremism, and the spread of radical ideologies.
During the meeting, participants exchanged information on the situation along the state borders of SCO member-states and forecasts for its development, and reviewed the results of special border operations.
The Head of the Center highlighted the historic importance of the partnership between the CIS and the SCO, which was strengthened in 2025 by the decision of the Council of Heads of State to grant the SCO an observer status at the CIS.
Furthermore, Mr. Sysoev emphasized that the CIS ATC views the SCO RATS and the CSTO as its key allies, striving to fully integrate efforts with these partners and strengthen joint counter-terrorism capabilities as part of the implementation of the Roadmap signed in 2025 by the Secretaries General of the CIS, the SCO, and the CSTO.
