CIS ATC participates in the High-Level Regional Meeting on Building Capacity in the Field of Eliminating the Supply of Weapons to Terrorists in Central Asia

The delegation of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center (CIS ATC), led by its Head Mr. Evgeny Sysoev participated in a high-level regional meeting organized by the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) on "Building Capacity in the Field of Eliminating the Supply of Weapons to Terrorists in Central Asia", organized on July 15, 2026, in Moscow.
The event was attended by delegations from the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan; relevant UN bodies (UNOCT, CTED, UNIDIR, and the UN Information Center in Moscow) and regional organizations (CIS ATC and SCO RATS).
The event reviewed the Technical Guidelines for Central Asia, prepared by the UNOCT to facilitate the implementation of Security Council Resolution 2370 (2017). The draft document was developed to assist Member States of the region in strengthening their legislative and strategic capacities to prevent, detect, and interdict the use by terrorists of small arms and light weapons, improvised explosive devices, and unmanned aircraft systems.
Head of the Center Mr. Evgeny Sysoev presented the experience of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center in implementing measures aimed to counter terrorism and its material support established within the CIS framework. This includes developing the legal basis for cooperation and model legislation, exchanging national and international experience through organizational activities, conducting joint counter-terrorism exercises, and enhancing the professional skills of personnel from the competent authorities of Commonwealth countries.
