A meeting between Mr. Evgeny Sysoev, Head of CIS ATC and Mr. Alexander Zouev, Acting Under-Secretary-General and Head of the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) took place at the headquarters of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center (CIS ATC) on July 14, 2026.

During the meeting, the parties noted with satisfaction that the long-standing, fruitful cooperation between the CIS ATC and UNOCT, underpinned by the Memorandum of Understanding signed in October 2018, enables the joint achievement of concrete, positive results.

Since December 2021, the CIS ATC has been a participant in the UN Global Expert Network on the Protection of Vulnerable Targets against Terrorist Threats, established by the UNOCT under the Global Programme on the Protection of Vulnerable Targets, and actively participates in the activities of the Counter-Terrorism Early Warning Network for Central Asia.

In 2025, the UNOCT launched a new project on "Preventing and Countering Extremism: National and Regional Practices" on the sidelines of the CIS Counter-Terrorism Forum in Tajikistan co-organized by the CIS ATC and the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Tomorrow, July 15, the CIS ATC will support a new UNOCT project on "Capacity Building to Prevent the Supply of Weapons to Terrorists in Central Asia."

At the conclusion of the meeting, the heads of delegations expressed confidence in the continued steady development of relations between the CIS ATC and the UNOCT, as well as in the strengthening of collective efforts to ensure international security.
