The CIS ATC delegation led by Deputy Head Mr. Sergey Zubkov took part in the 32nd meeting of the Council of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units of the CIS member states (FIU-CIS), held in Ashgabat on May 21, 2026.
The event brought together the heads and representatives of the financial intelligence units of the CIS member-states (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan), as well as representatives of CIS bodies and the CSTO Secretariat.
The meeting addressed pressing issues related to reducing the main regional threats posed by terrorism financing, the illicit use of cryptocurrencies and other new tools, as well as strengthening cooperation between CIS sectoral bodies and international organizations in countering transnational crime, drug trafficking, and irregular migration.
In his remarks, Mr. Zubkov noted that the CIS countries remain within the sphere of interest of international terrorist organizations, which actively conduct outreach in the information space and seek to expand their influence by exploiting migration flows to infiltrate Commonwealth countries. He also emphasized the contribution of FIU-CIS to the development of counter-terrorism cooperation in the CIS region.
