The First Deputy Head of CIS ATC Sabyrzhan Ungarbayev took part in the 10th meeting of the Council of Heads of Penitentiary Services of the CIS member States held on October 16, 2025, in Tashkent.
The event brought together representatives of the penitentiary services of 7 CIS states, including Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, CIS Executive Committee and CIS ATC.
The meeting discussed the progress of implementation of the Interstate Program of Joint Measures to Combat Crime for 2024-2028 and the Program of the CIS Member-States Cooperation in Fight against Terrorism and Extremism for 2023-2025.
In addition, the participants exchanged national experience in carrying out measures to de-radicalize people who have fallen under the ideological influence of those convicted of terrorism and extremism, as well as rehabilitate those convicted for extremist and terrorist crimes.
Mr. Sabyrzhan Ungarbayev informed the participants about the activities of the CIS ATC in assisting the competent authorities of the CIS states in carrying out interstate search for perpetrators terrorist and extremist crimes, as well as the results of the XVIII Meeting of the Heads of the lead departments of the competent authorities of the CIS member-states responsible for combating terrorism and the heads of national structures of the CIS member-states, providing coordination of activities in the counter-terrorism and counter-extremism field. He stressed the importance of consolidating joint efforts to effectively address the challenges of combating transnational crime, terrorism and extremism, and ensuring regional and international security.
