CIS ATC Participates in the 92nd Meeting of the Council of Commanders of the Border Troops

A delegation of the CIS ATC, led by its Head, Mr. Evgeny Sysoev, took part in the 92nd meeting of the Council of Commanders of the Border Troops, held in Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan, on May 14, 2026.
The event brought together delegations from the border agencies of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the CIS Executive Committee, the Coordination Service of the Council of Commanders of the Border Troops, the CIS Council of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units, the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS, and the International Union of Public Associations of Veterans of the Border Guard Service.
During the meeting, participants reviewed the situation on the external borders of the CIS member-states and its development trends, as well as issues related to multilateral border cooperation and the implementation of a coordinated border policy. They also considered the role of the Council of Commanders of the Border Troops in implementing the CIS Program of Cooperation in Countering Terrorism and Extremism for 2026–2028.
In a separate decision, the Council approved the Regulation granting the Border Academy of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan the status of a basic organization of the CIS member-states for the study of border control issues, as well as for the training and advanced training of specialized personnel.
The Head of the CIS ATC informed the Council members about the situation in the field of countering terrorism and extremism, highlighting the main trends observed in various regions of the world and across the CIS space. He emphasized the importance of joint efforts in ensuring collective security.
Following the meeting, additional measures were developed to further strengthen border security along the external borders of the CIS and expand multilateral cooperation in this area.
